Donations
How do I make a donation?
Browse our causes page, choose a cause that resonates with you, and click Donate. Select or enter your amount, add it to your cart, and proceed to checkout. The whole process takes under two minutes.
Can I donate to multiple causes at once?
Yes. You can add as many causes as you like to your cart and check out with a single payment. Your total will be split across all chosen causes automatically.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
The minimum donation is KES 1. Every amount matters — even a small contribution adds up when combined with the generosity of thousands of donors.
Can I make a donation anonymously?
Absolutely. During checkout, tick the "Make my donation anonymous" checkbox. Your name will not appear on the public impact feed, though we will still send you a private receipt via email or SMS.
Can I dedicate my donation to someone?
Yes. There is a Dedication / Message field at checkout where you can write a personalised message, e.g. "In memory of my mother" or "In honour of our anniversary". This message will appear on your receipt.
Payments
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept M-Pesa (STK Push), Visa / Mastercard debit and credit cards, and Bank Transfer (Equity Bank Kenya). More payment options are coming soon.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All transactions are protected with 256-bit SSL encryption. We never store your card details on our servers — card data is tokenised directly via our payment gateway's secure SDK before it reaches us.
Are there any processing fees on my donation?
No processing fees. Islamic Relief Kenya absorbs all transaction costs so that 100% of what you give goes directly to the cause you choose.
How does M-Pesa STK Push work?
After you enter your M-Pesa phone number at checkout and click "Pay with M-Pesa", a payment prompt is sent directly to your phone. Open it, enter your M-Pesa PIN, and the payment is confirmed instantly — no need to manually send money or enter paybill numbers.
Can I get a refund on my donation?
Donations are generally non-refundable as funds are disbursed promptly to beneficiaries. However, if a payment error occurred or you were charged incorrectly, please contact us within 48 hours and we will investigate and resolve it.
Receipts & Confirmations
Will I receive a receipt for my donation?
Yes. Once your payment is confirmed you will receive an email receipt to the address you provided, and an SMS confirmation to your phone number. Both include your reference number and a full donation breakdown.
How long does it take to receive my receipt?
Receipts are sent instantly upon payment confirmation. If you don't receive yours within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If it's still missing, contact us with your reference number and we'll resend it.
Can I use my donation receipt for tax purposes?
Islamic Relief Kenya is a registered NGO in Kenya. Our receipts contain all the information typically required for tax deduction claims. We recommend consulting a tax professional for specific advice applicable to your circumstances.

How is my donation used?
Donations go directly to the cause you select — whether that's food relief, clean water, education, or emergency response. Islamic Relief Kenya covers all operational and transaction costs separately so 100% of your donation reaches beneficiaries.
How can I track the impact of my donation?
Visit our Impact page to see real-time donation activity from our community. We also publish periodic impact reports on our website and share updates via email to donors who opt in.
Are all causes verified and legitimate?
Yes. Every cause on our platform is managed directly by Islamic Relief Kenya's operations team. We do not host third-party fundraisers — all causes are our own verified programmes with on-the-ground implementation teams.
Account & Privacy
Do I need an account to donate?
No. You can donate as a guest — just provide your name, email, and phone number at checkout. No registration or password is required.
How is my personal data handled?
Your personal data is collected solely to process your donation and send receipts. We never sell or share your data with third parties. For full details, read our Privacy Policy.
How do I opt out of marketing emails?
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also contact us directly and we'll remove you from our mailing list within 48 hours. Note: transactional receipts cannot be unsubscribed from as they are required by law.
